Isla Mujeres: Puerto Juárez
Puerto Juárez is a mainland departure point for passenger ferries to Isla Mujeres. Other Cancún-area piers also have island services, so use the departure terminal on your actual ferry ticket. Playa Mujeres and Costa Mujeres are mainland hotel areas; neither is the same destination as Isla Mujeres.
Cozumel: Playa del Carmen
Ultramar lists its Cozumel passenger service from Playa del Carmen. Request the mainland ferry connection rather than simply selecting a Playa hotel. Vehicle access near the pier can be restricted, so allow for a short walk with your luggage from the agreed drop-off.
Holbox: Chiquilá
A road transfer for Holbox ends in Chiquilá. The boat crossing and any island vehicle are separate services. Check the sailing schedule with your chosen ferry operator for the travel date; this guide does not promise a last departure or include ferry tickets in the road fare.
Build a connection buffer
Allow time for immigration, baggage, road traffic and the ferry operator’s boarding requirements. Weather can change sailing plans. For your return flight, work backwards from airline check-in, adding the mainland road journey, ferry, boarding time and island transfer.
